Hannah Nowlan completed an International Artist Residency in Portugal in 2016. Upon her return, Hannah exhibited a debut solo exhibition entitled ‘Myths, Moons and Mountains’ in Melbourne (2017). The show depicted bold shapes, overlapping planes of glazed colour, fragmented form and subtle texture strokes.

Remaining anchored in her connection with her hometown of Black Rock, Hannah’s paintings encompassed a connection with the Portuguese coastal town of Nazaré. Where mythological narratives and ancient legends allowed Hannah to create a primitive language that spoke directly of person and place.

From a pivotal sold-out debut exhibition for the artist, a rare opportunity now arises for a collector to acquire a pair of original works on paper, ‘Forte De Sao’ and ‘Shadow Waves’ created in Portugal by Hannah Nowlan.
